Photography art for Sale There is No Bad Light, only Light!|Photography Art Gallery Neare Me

Cloudy skies created the perfect mild for photographing this lobster shack near Gloucester.

Last month I had the pleasure of leading a workshop with my good friend and extraordinary photographer, Betty Wiley, in an area of New England known as The North Shore. It’s an area along the coast just north of Boston, and is home to fishermen and lobstermen in cities like Gloucester and Rockport. I love even the names of the places in the area like Bear Skin Neck, Annisquam Harbor Light, Halibut Point, and Jones River Salt Marsh.

Betty and I arrived two days prior to the workshop to scout the regions we wanted to see, test the sun, check the tides, and so on. We have been blessed with brilliant light and Betty?S talent at reading the light, wind, and tides, positioned us at Annisquam Harbor Light for one of the most incredible sunsets that either one folks has ever seen (beneath).

Then our group arrived and all that beautiful daylight changed into replaced with threatening rain, solid gray cloud cowl and wind ? A awful mixture for capturing sunsets and fishing boats at the harbor.

So, as institution leaders and photographers, what do you do while conditions don't appear best?

It?S been stated by using someone that there may be no proper mild or awful light, there is simplest mild. The aim of a photographer is to apply the available light well. Of route, as group leaders, Betty and I desired our organization to have the sunset experience that we?D just had, but that changed into out of our control. So, we solid beforehand, remained fine, and deliberate our days to apply the mild we had to our satisfactory possible benefit.

Our group was superb. Everyone maintained their pleasure, regardless of the clouds, as we shot in small sheltered harbors, and inside the city of Rockport, and the cloud cover created a excellent tender light that allowed our institution to get some superb pictures. As every day advanced, and we hung out inside the study room, we remained hopeful that the clouds would element and give us an amazing sunset. And our patience and optimism changed into rewarded!

Debbie Owen made the lovely photograph of our organization at the beach, and as you may see, the clouds and light had been wonderful! Everyone had the experience of having a awesome sundown shot, along with a host of different great photographs in spite of the ?Awful? Light for a part of the journey.
