Last week, with co-chief, John Barclay, I had the delight of leading a skilled institution of photographers as we photographed beautiful locations on Cape Cod from Chatham to Provincetown.
As is standard, John and I arrived a few days early to scout places and put together for the workshop. One of our first stops turned into to visit our friend, the terrific photographer, Steve Koppel. Steve lives in a beautiful home, his outdoor the ocean close to Brewster. At low tide, the water recedes, allowing one to walk out on the location referred to as the "tidal flats." These sand flats are exposed at low tide and you can stroll our for a much.

What is left is a tapestry of ripples within the sand made by using the ocean and wind, tufts of sea grass (which in the fall turns a wealthy gold, tinged with remnants of green), and pools of sea water that replicate an regularly extraordinary, cloud-crammed sky. The colours, the styles, the textures, and the mild are some thing about which photographers dream!
On the day John, Steve and I walked out at the tidal residences ? I for the primary time ? It became about forty five stages with 40 mile consistent with hour winds. To say the least, it became brutally bloodless! We have been frozen, and I, with the incorrect type of boots, had wet feet, too. But the photographic opportunities have been so tremendous, none folks stopped making images! We jumped up and down from the cold, we cursed the wind, we rubbed our fingers together, and then, we set up our tripod for some other superb photo!

Processed with SnapSeed and Enlight We remained on the flats for approximately two hours till the solar made a grand go out in one of the most red sunsets I've ever witnessed. Cold, moist, and frozen to the middle by way of the relentless wind, I started out back to the auto at the least 3 instances before sundown, but I never made it a number ft earlier than being stopped in my tracks with the aid of every other superb show of mild thru clouds, illuminating a sample in the sand. I needed to forestall and picture again, cold be damned!
The next day, I purchased a couple of Muck Boots, particularly designed to hold feet warm and dry, and provide firm footing on the flats. Throughout the week we again two times. On the primary go to with our institution, the situations have been much like what I defined above, besides we had the delivered pleasure of intermittent rain, that, while blown by way of forty mile in line with hour winds, felt like needles penetrating any uncovered pores and skin! But, our second night out, the situations were notable; warmer temps, no rain, and little wind. Again, we spent nearly hours on those apartments with more photographs ops than we knew what to do with.
